About Punjabi University
Established on April 30, 1962, Punjabi University, Patiala is a prestigious institution recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). As the second university in the world to be named after a language, it plays a pivotal role in the promotion and preservation of Punjabi language, literature, and culture while maintaining excellence in science, technology, commerce, and humanities education.
The university campus sprawls over 316 acres, housing state-of-the-art infrastructure, including the world-famous Gurmat Sangeet Department, the first of its kind in any Indian university. We are an A-grade accredited university by NAAC and have been recognized for our research contributions and innovative teaching methodologies.
